There are various flavors of the CLT occurring through the whole year:
- CLT
- This version of the exam compares to the SAT and ACT, and is useful for college admissions.
- Taken by HS juniors and seniors.
- In 2023, the CLT will be administered twice in February, March, April, May, June, and additional dates to be announced.
- CLT10
- The CLT10, designed for 9th and 10th graders, compares to the PSAT and Pre-ACT.
- Sophomores can yield a scholarship.
- In 2023, the CLT10 will be administered in February, April, September, and November.
- CLT8
- The CLT8 is for 7th and 8th graders. It acts as both an end-of-year tool as well as an assessment/diagnostic tool.
- The CLT8 is also useful for high school admissions.
- Homeschoolers in CO, GA, HI, ME, NH, NC, OH, SD, VA, and under certain situations also FL, LA, MA, MN, ND, SC, TN, and WV may use the CLT8 for fulfilling their yearly testing requirements.
- In 2023, the CLT8 will be administered in March, May, September, and November.
- CLT3-6
- The CLT3-6, one for grade 3 through 6 respectively, will also act as an end-of-year tool as well as an assessment/diagnostic tool.
- Handy for states throughout the whole country such as WA, SD, CO, MN, WI, LA, TN, FL, SC, GA, NC, VA, WV, OH, MA, NH, ME, and HI.
- These versions are currently being piloted and expect to be rolled out starting in 2023.
The respective CLT tests usually last 2 hours (under 2 and a half hours considering setup and breaks) and can be taken remotely or in a school setting depending upon your situation. CLT test content involves rigorous quantitative reasoning (math problem solving and math reasoning) and verbal reasoning (grammar/writing/language and reading comprehension of passages).
